Nahiduzzaman Shipon is the current General Secretary of Jatiyatabadi Chhatra Dal – Dhaka University (JCD DU). Known for his strong leadership, principled activism, and unwavering commitment to student welfare, Shipon stands out as one of the most influential and respected student leaders at the University of Dhaka today.
Deeply rooted in the ideals of Shaheed President Ziaur Rahman, and inspired by the leadership of BNP Chairperson Begum Khaleda Zia and Acting Chairman Tarique Rahman, Shipon has dedicated himself to restoring student rights, campus democracy, and justice within the educational system. His work is grounded in the belief that students must have a voice in the decisions that shape their academic and social environment.
As General Secretary, Shipon has played a key role in organizing student movements addressing campus safety, administrative accountability, and political freedom. Notably, he has led mobilizations following the tragic death of fellow student leader Shahriar Alam Samya, demanding justice and institutional reform. These actions have positioned him as a powerful advocate for student safety and democratic expression on campus.
One of his most prominent contributions has been his work on reforming the constitution of Dhaka University Central Students’ Union (DUCSU) and the Hall Sangsad Constitution. Shipon has been actively involved in proposals and campaigns aimed at updating these outdated structures to ensure greater student participation in administrative decision-making. His vision is to create a more inclusive and democratic governance system within the university where students are no longer sidelined but are actively engaged in shaping institutional policies that affect their lives.
Beyond activism, Shipon remains committed to building a strong, proactive, and politically conscious student community. Under his leadership, JCD DU continues to be a driving force for positive change, advocating for a campus environment based on freedom of thought, justice, and democratic values.
